Minnesota. Jan 23, 2022. #2. Not sure it is required at 50% but below is what you should do at 80%. Could be possible that nothing happens at 50% when you perform the below steps. Not sure. One section states: The Cummins® diesel engine meets all diesel emissions standards, resulting in one of the lowest emitting diesel engines ever produced
Check for boost pressure and make sure it is within recommended range (boost pressure test recommended). Exhaust System Checks Check for any disconnected diesel particulate filter pressure hoses, or pipes. Check the diesel particulate filter (DPF) assembly and check for any exhaust leaks, cracks, signs of melting or excessive deposits.
First, I did the code to show the DPF filter % in the maintenance menu. I'm nearly certain it showed a percentage, like 76% or something the first time I looked at it. But now it has said 0% for 1500 or more miles. DEF gauge has gone down in that time so I'm sure it's doing it's regens just not showing properly on the new gauge.
In the stock form, the DPF (diesel particulate filter) would regenerate (what they call cleaning itself) every 100 miles or so, or depending on how full it thinks it gets. To do so, the truck automatically goes into regen mode, in which it injects a certain amount of fresh fuel on the exhaust stroke and sending it downstream to the DPF.
This document will guide the user through programming of the ECM to ensure the calibration correlates with the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) type. This document is only to be followed after diagnostics and/or Tech Services have determined a replacement DPF is needed.
60 hours X 60 minutes = 3,600 minutes. 16 regeneration minutes /3,600 = .00444 = 4/10s of 1% of engine time is consumed during parked regeneration. Fuel cost for sixteen minute parked regeneration @ 2,200 rpm ~~$1.00. Diesel Particulate Filter supersedes tractor muffler. At some point in time DPF needs to be replaced.

My experience: Single most important thing a Sprinter Owner can do is avoid interrupting DPF regenerations. Three DPF interruptions will throw a check engine light that may self-extinguish if highway operated for extended period of time, up to as much as 2 to 3 hours, interspersed with some stop and go driving, key cycles.
Here we clean a blocked DPF filter on this Range Rover Sport.the vehicle was in limp mode with reduced power and engine management light illuminated.DPF full
